Sealed Concrete & Paver Sealing

Sealed concrete living room floor
Add a new look to your driveway, walkway, patio or other areas around or in the home with Sealed Concrete. This coating creates an attractive finish that protects and beautifies concrete surfaces. It adds color fastness, reduces cracking and fading, eliminates oil stains and fights seasonal stains
Sealed concrete is comparable to polished concrete, except it does not involve sanding down the floor's surface. Instead, a high-performance sealer is placed to the top layer of the concrete, giving it a bright, high-gloss finish and making it stain and fade resistant.

Sealed Concrete VS Polished Concrete
Despite similarities in appearance, polished concrete and sealed concrete differ in some ways. Until the floor achieves the desired level of shine, polished concrete is polished using finer grits of diamond abrasive. Keep in mind that the polished concrete floor is not covered in a film. This finish has a shorter lifespan than a polished concrete floor.
However, in sealed concrete, the concrete is cleaned and allowed to dry. Like paint, a thin layer of acrylic, epoxy, or urethane sealer is applied to the concrete surface. Concrete voids are filled with the layer of sealer.
Depending on the type of sealer used, the desired level of shine is achieved. The sealer forms a thin film over the concrete surface, preventing moisture intrusion beneath the finished floor.

Because the pores are filled, water or spillage does not find its way down, extending the life of the concrete. Concrete is sometimes sealed to prevent moisture from entering beneath the floor.
The sealer is damaged every time traffic passes by and eventually wears off, necessitating resealing. For example, in the driveway, traffic may damage the sealer. Sealers are also used in cold climates where there is a problem with freezing and thawing. Because the sealer prevents water from entering, there is no freezing and thawing.

What does sealing do to concrete?
Sealing fills the pores of the concrete, preventing moisture and dirt from entering and extending its life.
Appearance
As previously stated, it is difficult to distinguish between the two because they appear nearly identical. Polished and Sealed Concrete can have a matte, satin, or glossy finish. However, the process for achieving a matte, satin, or gloss appearance is entirely different.
The desired level of shine is achieved in polished concrete floors by using finer grits of diamond abrasive, whereas the shine is achieved in sealed concrete floors by using various types of sealers. In the case of grind and sealed concrete, the finish is more consistent.

Durability
Polished concrete is more durable, has a scratch-resistant finish, requires little maintenance, and can last a lifetime if properly cared for. However, if traffic is heavy, the sealed concrete must be resurfaced on a regular basis.

Cleaning
Permanent marks in polished concrete can appear if it is installed in an area prone to spills and stains. However, cleaning the sealed cement is simple.

Paver sealing
If you have taken the time to install pavers around your patio or pool deck yourself or even hired someone to do it for you, you know it's a lot of work and looks beautiful. Unfortunately, you may quickly realize that they can become dull, and grimy overtime.

Pavers that are sealed can withstand the growth of mold, dirt, and grime. This is really important in saunters more humid climates when grim and mold can grow quickly.  Sealing the pavers reduces their porosity, which slows down the growth of mold and makes it easier to clean up. Additionally, it provides protection against the accumulation of dirt and grime.

One of the main advantages of sealing pavers is protection from environmental elements, especially in harsh climates like Florida with extreme temperatures, sun exposure, high humidity, and water tables. Sealing provides UV protection similar to sunscreen for your skin, and it is recommended to reseal every two to three years depending on the area's coverage. Did you know that sealing your pavers can also prevent permanent staining spots from suntan lotion, grease and more. Stains can be easily removed if attended to promptly. Without sealing, the prints would have been permanent in the pavers' pores.

Have you ever noticed that the cracks in between pavers get bigger and bigger over time? When brick pavers or travertine tiles are installed, sand is used to fill the gaps between them. It is important to have a stabilizing sealer applied which hardens the sand and stabilizes it, preventing it from washing out during heavy rains or light pressure washing. It's important to note that the sealer does not cement the joints together, but it does provide some level of stabilization. Additionally, the stabilized sand helps prevent insects from carving their way in, resulting in fewer ant mines and other similar issues.

Now really, the real benefit (or at least the one that's most popular with our clients and most people that get sealing done) is how it looks. The color enhancement is just awesome. These sealers offer superior color enhancement, and there's a lot of different sealers on the market. Some call it the wet look. Some call it the enhanced look. But either way, what it does is it darkens and enriches the colors of the brick. It does not change the color, it just makes it look fresh and new with a semi-gloss look.

Sealing your pavers is crucial in safeguarding your investment in  patios, driveways, retaining walls, pool decks, and walkways from natural elements. Regular upkeep and protection are necessary to maintain the stunning appearance of these structures for years. Our top-notch sealers are designed to shield the pavers and retaining wall blocks from stains, surface erosion, and restore the original color. Just like polishing and cleaning your car periodically, your pavers and retaining walls need the same level of care to remain in excellent condition
